The power to steal a scene as a supporting actor is reserved for a select few. Jerry Stiller was one of them.

The world was saddened to hear his passing at the age of 92 last week. Stiller was beloved by audiences and co-stars alike as a man who lit up any room or scene that he entered.

To steal a term from The Rewatchables podcast, Stiller was the ultimate heat-check actor. He’s the personification of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams running the wildcat offense for the Dolphins. JR Smith hitting 11 3s in one ga...

There's no doubting that both Kobe Bryant and LeBron James have some of the most dedicated Stan groups of any athlete, both living or dead. Each respective hive will defend their GOAT to no end, throwing any kind of reason or courtesy out the window along the way. That being said — whose Stans are worse? We take a deep dive into the annals of social media to settle the debate once and for all.

Büsh: I want to start this out by saying that I am a huge Kobe guy. I wouldn't go so far as to call myself a Stan, as I...

A few weeks ago, Hall of Fame second baseman and notoriously bad color commentator Joe Morgan wrote a letter to Hall of Fame voters begging them not to vote for players linked to performance enhancing drugs. He called these players cheaters and said they had no place in the sacred and prestigious Hall that he had worked so hard to enter. If they were to join the ranks of the womanizers, racists, and cheaters in Cooperstown, it would taint its pristine nature.

Joe Morgan was a great baseball player and he h...

That's right ladies and gentlemen (or however you identify yourself as), Lampin' is back and  — excuse the cliché — better than ever. We know you missed our semi-monthly, lazily planned posts, but fear not, as we have returned from our brief hiatus and promise to make up for our time missed.

It's been exactly one year since our very first post, and we couldn't think of a better time to get started again. We have some new additions that we'd like to share with you:

"And music still on MTV..."  - Bowling for Soup, 2004

The media giant MTV was spawned in 1981 as a medium to incorporate visual elements into the increasingly commercial and thus pervasive world of music and pop culture. Simple enough. Video jockeys would stream music videos 24/7 to give viewers a better understanding of their favorite artists’ perspective.

From that moment, music and culture became inextricably meshed through an eclectic blend of alternative tunes that soon came to the forefront of the Amer...

There truly is no better sport to watch or play than basketball (this coming from a lifelong baseball player). While there definitely are lulls in the long 82-game season, the intensity of the playoffs is truly magical to watch, although the first round needs revert back to a best-of-five format.

The every-possession-is-monumental atmosphere of a playoff basketball game puts it above every other sport, including my beloved baseball. The only other sport I've heard people rave...

If you are under 25 years old, there is a 99% chance that at some point, you’ve heard someone use strange terms such as “bomb ass dank ass” or “purp skurp” in a slurred, stony inflection. The voice is most commonly used by white males aged 18-20 who have smoked marijuana between 2-5 times in their life. While often executed poorly and with bad timing, this satirical stoner character is the brainchild of one of the greatest comedic minds of our time, Kyle Mooney.

While still not a proper household name, Kyle is o...

Every once in a while the perfect song will come on during the perfect scene of a movie. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it's magical, kind of like a solar eclipse. From that point on, whenever you hear that song you'll think of the movie, and whenever you think of that movie the song will play in your head.

In most cases, both the song and movie would be just as iconic on their own, but when put together, they create something bigger than we could possibly imagine (a la Ambrose and Byong Sun from...

First of all, we'd like to welcome you to the Lampin' Blog. This has been a long process in the making, and it feels good to finally be on the web. Our inaugural post is dedicated to doing what many have done in the past: rank Quentin Tarantino movies.

As two recent college grads with no film background, you may wonder if we are under-qualified to do so. The short answer--yes. The long answer is get off your damn high horse and take our opinions with a grain of salt. Let's get into it. (Spoilers Ahead)

Here's ou...
